Danner Mountain Overlook Hiking Shoe

Danner’s hiking shoe and boot catalog is one of the market’s trustiest, so it only makes sense for the heritage brand to garner inspiration from its own classic silhouettes when crafting new models. The latest example is the Mountain Overlook, a twist on the brand’s Overlook silhouette that takes stylistic inspiration from the bootmaker’s timeless Mountain Light hiking boots.

The new hiking shoe’s upper is composed of chic, full-grain leather that gradually molds to your foot to create a hand-in-glove fit — or, in this instance, a foot-in-shoe fit. This personalized feel is also a result of the OrthoLite footbed that provides three layers of different density levels that combine to provide optimized support, cushioning, and air circulation.

Performance-wise, the shoe sits on Danner’s proprietary Plyolite midsole and a Vibram Overlook Outsole with Megagrip tech. These two premium compounds come together to provide lightweight comfort, shock-absorbing qualities, and optimized traction no matter what terrain you’re walking on — whether it’s the Overlook’s preferred city sidewalks or the Mountain Light’s natural rocky trails. The Mountain Overlook is built on Danner’s trail-runner-inspired DT6 last and features an 8mm heel-to-toe offset for guaranteed stability. For now, the 3” high boots are only available in one color: a neutral shade of brown that Danner calls Monk’s Robe.

If you’ve been hunting for a new pair of hiking shoes that can pull double-duty on your next night out in the city, you can’t go wrong with this pair from the Portland favorite. Danner’s Mountain Overlook boot is available on its online store now for $190.

Purchase: $190
