The Wiggles, an Australian children’s music group with multiple world tours and a TV show spanning 30 years, caused a little stir when they posed for a photo with out, Grammy-winning rapper Lil Nas X.

The photo, which sees X holding a newly minted band shirt, came after the long-awaited Falls Festival of 2022-2023 where the two artists performed.

The family-friendly act posted the photo onto their Instagram account captioned, “New collab in the wind?”

While the photo itself doesn’t seem to be an issue, parents within the comments were quick to jump in on the idea of a song between the two artists. Comments like “Why wiggles, WHY!?! You have betrayed us” and “I will be done with Wiggles, absolutely not” flooded the photo.

X’s release of the “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)” music video, in which the rapper offers a lap dance to Satan himself in the pit of hell, plays a role in parent’s hesitancy to let the artist work with a group their children watch and listen to frequently.

Following the release of the video, however, X addressed the controversy in a tweet, saying, “I spent my entire teenage years hating myself because of the shit y’all preached would happen to me because I was gay. So I hope u are mad, stay mad, feel the same anger you teach us to have towards ourselves.”

Mic check for those in the back who needed to hear it.

Despite the negative reactions in the comments of the photo with The Wiggles and the rapper, however, others have met the idea with open arms.

“Lots of people commenting obviously don’t understand art and have horribly closed minds,” wrote one user. “I hope this post stays up forever and there IS a collab.”
